Oregon Pinot Noir is the cornerstone of the Erath wine series, crafted from grapes sourced from several vineyards. The goal is to create a wine that highlights the distinctive fruit character of the Pinot Noir grape. Five percent of the wine has been aged in French oak barrels. This is a classic Oregon Pinot Noir with enticing aromas of ripe strawberries, vanilla, and a hint of caramel. The flavor is soft with notes of raspberry and orange zest, complemented by a pleasant and gentle fruit acidity.

It all started in a California garage, where Dick Erath made his first barrel of wine. With his deep fascination for the Pinot Noir grape, he moved with his family to Oregon to find the perfect region for his favorite varietal. Dick Erath was one of Oregon’s wine pioneers and has worked tirelessly since the late 1960s to bring out the best in Pinot Noir. The winery is located in the ”Red Hills” of Dundee Hills, in the northern part of the Willamette Valley. The climate is temperate and relatively cool, often compared to Burgundy.

Oregon has stood out as an innovative wine state, particularly for its focus on developing sustainable wine projects. A vibrant wine state, Oregon boasts stricter wine laws compared to California. It is blessed with one of the world’s most diverse geoclimates, allowing winemakers to benefit from both warm/dry and cool/moist conditions. While it excels with crisp Pinot Gris and complex Pinot Noir wines, Oregon also produces excellent wines from Spanish Tempranillo, Merlot, Riesling, and Chardonnay.
