Danish Single Malt Whisky
As the name suggests, 1st Release is our very first edition of Thornæs Single Malt Whisky. In other words, it is a small piece of Thornæs history, carefully selected from our stock of maturing whisky.
1st Release is a Double Cask that spent its first 13 months in new Danish oak and then up to 25 months in a Bourbon cask made from American white oak.
The maturation in Danish oak took place in small 50-liter casks, which have formed the foundation of the whisky, giving it plenty of toffee and warm spices, as well as a good complexity with notes of pepper and mild tobacco. The large 250-liter hogshead Bourbon cask has subsequently contributed additional soft notes of vanilla and caramel, resulting in a more rounded and harmonious profile.
All bottles are numbered. A hardboard box with a window and magnetic closure is included.
