St. Antony Weissburgunder is a delicious, fresh and harmonious wine made from the Weissburgunder grape – also known by its French name Pinot Blanc. In the version here, it is bottled young, fruity, juicy and fresh. It seems slightly fuller than a basic Riesling and it is less sharp. A wine for every occasion, preferably in the sunshine or when you need a ray of sunshine.
Colour: Greenish golden.
Nose: Citrus, peach, elderflower, nuts and a whiff of mango.
Tasting notes: Relatively full and soft, crisp freshness combined with a delicious fruity sweetness.
Serving suggestions: Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or with light dishes. Good for fish, shellfish, pasta dishes, vegetables and salads.
St. Antony has been producing wine since the end of World War I, and was officially founded in 1920 by the “Guten Hoffnungshütte” in Rheinhessen. The first vintage was 1918. A year when Europe was in ruins. Since 1990, the small craft winery has been a member of the Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter, and has been working with certified organic standards since 2006.
St. Antony owns a beautiful wine landscape near the Rhine, and has 60 hectares of vineyards – primarily in Rote Hang in Nierstein. In addition to Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, they also grow Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch.
