Sacred Organic Sloe Gin 28.8% is crafted with exceptional precision and care, unlike many other sloe gins. Traditionally, sloe berries need frost before they develop their full flavor. This means they are sometimes picked early and frozen, allowing producers to macerate them in gin and bottle the final product in late October or early November for the Christmas season.
Fortunately, Ian Hart takes a different approach. His sloe berries are only picked when they are fully ripe and have naturally frozen on the branch, meaning they are harvested much later in the year. Ian then macerates them in an ultra-strong juniper gin—a gin so intense that if it were bottled on its own, it would be the most juniper-forward gin in the world, with nearly four times the juniper content of the most intense traditional gins. The sloe berries are left to infuse for 30 months (2.5 years) in this powerful juniper gin. The result? A sloe gin that truly tastes of both sloe berries and gin (juniper).
Absolutely not for those with a sweet tooth! This sloe gin is without a doubt one of the most incredible we have tasted in a long time. Try it with lemon soda or Fever-Tree Lemon Tonic, or mix it with a dry sparkling wine to create a “Sloe Gin Fizz.” Garnish with a lemon slice.
Sacred Spirits is based in Highgate, London, where Ian Hart distills vodka, gin, vermouth, and bitters. After earning a chemistry degree, Ian worked as a broker on Wall Street but wanted to apply his education in a more tangible way. A long-time Bordeaux wine collector, he initially sought to preserve wine quality. Over time, he “invented” a gin, which he brought to his local pub. It became a huge success, and soon, his small entrepreneurial family, including his wife Hilary, became involved in the business.
What makes Sacred unique is its vacuum distillation at low temperatures. Later, Ian was contacted by the bar manager at The Dukes Hotel in London, who had tasted his gin. Suddenly, he found himself delivering gin across London via the Tube. Eventually, he had to switch to a professional distributor, and the rest is history.
The outstanding quality of Sacred Gin led to its rapid expansion—first across the UK and then internationally. In 2013, Sacred Gin won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
We are incredibly proud to introduce Denmark to Sacred Spirits’ limited production of fewer than 30,000 bottles annually—a truly phenomenal gin producer.
