Sacred Gin is Sacred Spirits’ flagship product. The gin is made from a blend of 12 different botanicals, with juniper as the dominant flavor. One of the other ingredients used in Sacred Gin is Boswellia Sacra, the Latin name for the plant from which resin is extracted to make incense. Sacra is therefore the inspiration for the name Sacred—in English, it is known as Frankincense. Ian distills each botanical separately and then blends the gin in his living room in Highgate, London.
Sacred Gin is a London Dry Gin, meaning it has a strong juniper profile (65% of the blend is pure juniper distillate). Sacred is crafted without the use of artificial flavorings.
Sacred Gin is absolutely fantastic for a Dry Martini, which is arguably the drink it suits best. A gin and tonic with Sacred is also an extraordinary experience. Try it with Fever-Tree Tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit instead of lime.
Sacred Spirits is located in Highgate, London. Here, Ian Hart distills vodka, gin, vermouth, and bitters. After completing a degree in chemistry, Ian worked as a broker on Wall Street but preferred to apply his education to something more tangible. Having collected Bordeaux wines for years, he initially aimed to preserve their quality. Over time, he “invented” a gin, which he took to his local pub. It was a huge success, and his wife Hilary soon became involved in the business.
What makes Sacred special is that it is distilled under vacuum at low temperatures. Later, Ian was contacted by the bar manager at The Dukes Hotel in London, who had tasted his gin. Suddenly, Ian found himself traveling across London’s Tube, delivering gin all over the city. He eventually had to switch to a professional distributor, and the rest is history.
Thanks to its exceptional quality, Sacred Gin first spread across the UK and later beyond its borders. In 2013, Sacred Gin won double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. We are very proud to introduce Denmark to Sacred Spirits’ highly limited production of fewer than 30,000 bottles per year—a truly phenomenal gin producer.
