About Ron Cueva 1501:
The Cueva tribe was discovered in Panama in 1501 by Spanish conquerors. The tribe became extinct in 1535 due to battles with the Spaniards and diseases brought from Europe.
Ron Cueva is a tribute to the brave Cueva tribe, now “conquering” the world with Panamanian rum!
Panama offers an optimal climate for sugarcane. Cool nights and warm, humid days, combined with a relatively short rainy season, create a long and efficient growing season, producing high-quality sugarcane.
The climate is a key factor in the rum’s maturation. A humid, moderate tropical climate provides perfect conditions for aging rum. In addition to traditional barrel aging, Ron Cueva also uses the “Sistema Solera” method.
Although Panamanian law only requires rum to be aged for a minimum of two years, Ron Cueva 1501 allows their rum to age and mature for 8, 12, 18, and up to 25 years.
Beyond honoring the past, Ron Cueva 1501 works to improve the quality of life for indigenous tribes. They launch numerous projects that benefit the tribes — a producer that values tradition and history, never forgetting their origins. A rum series that uses the past to shape the future.
