Philippe Prié Brut Tradition Champagne 75 cl.
Classic Champagne Brut – France
Champagne
Champagne is France’s northernmost wine region. In terms of wine style, this means that the wines from here are never heavy in alcohol, but rather characterized by acidity and minerality. And although still wines are made here, it is naturally the sparkling wine Champagne for which the area is known and famous. The Champagne fields cover an area of 35,000 ha, of which 30,500 are planted. The capitals are Reims, Epernay and the neighboring town of Ay and the grapes for and in Champagne are mainly Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.
Champagne Philippe Prié
Philippe Prié, a tiny family-run Champagne house with enormous personality, in the heart of the Côte des Bar in the southern part of the Champagne region where the Prié family has grown Champagne grapes since 1737. The operation and responsibility are today in the hands of Fabienne Prié and her daughter. Fabienne lost her husband a few years ago and at that time was left without the financial means to continue running the family’s Champagne House. It is certainly to her credit that the house still appears today with completely new wine cellars, that the bottles have been given a completely new look and, above all, of course: that the quality of her Champagne is absolutely top notch. There is no doubt that Philippe Prié’s Champagnes are for the discerning person who prefers to bypass the mainstream, who can taste and appreciate good craftsmanship and exclusive quality.
The wine
The classic Brut with 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Philippe Prié Brut Tradition is stylistically very clean and crisp in taste flanked by white peach, green apples, flowers and structured by nice and firm minerality. Wine Spectator gave 91 points and wrote “…Champagne with focused structure. Light juiciness with supple texture and a touch of honey, apples, biscuits and ginger”.
Name: The champagne bears the name of the founder and the family.
Vinification: Méthode Champenoise.
Tasting notes: Classic Brut Champagne with a balanced structure and nice tasting notes of white peach, green apples and a fine hint of honey.
