Pastis Des Terres Rouges Vedrenne 70 cl. 45%
Along the Mediterranean coast, you drink an aperitif with the flavor of anise. Ouzo in Greece, Raki in Turkey and Pastis in France. Pastis des Terres Rouges is more complex than most in the genre, as the fine taste and aroma of anise is accompanied by selected herbs and spices. The pastis is obvious along the beach or in a Parisian sidewalk cafe, but fortunately can just as well be enjoyed from Thy to Rønne. Most often with 5-6 parts cold water to one part Pastis, as the French do it.
Between fields and trees, orchards and vineyards, castles and church towers lies the scenic area of Nuits St. Georges, right in the heart of idyllic Burgundy. Here, Joseph Vedrenne founded a small production of liqueurs in 1923 based on the area’s rich fruit production. It didn’t take long before Vedrenne’s passion for the product gained widespread recognition, not least for the unique Crème de Cassis. Based on Burgundy’s lush nature, rich fruit production and the many local producers, Vedrenne has grown larger, and today the company produces and sells over 50 different liqueurs, syrups, gin, pastis and absinthe of the same high quality as when Joseph Vedrenne for first put local fruit into the press in the small factory. In 1997 Vedrenne teamed up with Verveine Du Velay Pages Distillery to further increase the distillery’s knowledge in the production of liqueurs and couple it with Vedrenne’s many years of expertise, experience and love of the product. Even today, Vedrenne prefers to use local, Burgundian fruit producers, who prioritize ecology and quality. The Vedrenne name is binding after over 90 years of production, and therefore today Vedrenne only uses fruit of a quality that ensures that every drop gets the fullness and rich taste that characterizes Vedrenne’s products and for which the name is known today. It is this same uncompromising approach to quality that was Joseph Vedrenne’s starting point in 1923 – and the same approach that still makes Vedrenne the producer in the world who has won the most awards for his liqueurs. So even though production has become slightly larger and more modern, the product is the same as it has always been. Fortunately. Many of Vedrenne’s products can be enjoyed “clean” with ice cubes, but can also be used for a wide range of cocktails, where the quality is not denied. That’s why cocktail mixers and bartenders all over the world are familiar with the name Vedrenne and use their liqueurs and syrups in fantastic cocktails, where there are no limits to what experiences await.
