Marchese Antinori Vino Santo del Chianti Classico 2018 37,5 cl. 15%

Vinsanto – Italian Dessert Wine

Delicate aroma with hints of dried fruit, chestnut flour, figs and candied, bitter orange peel. Refined and soft on the tongue, characterized by tremendous freshness. In the aftertaste, notes of cocoa powder and amaretto stand out nicely.

The grapes, which come exclusively from the vineyards of the Antinori estates in the Chianti Classico area, have been carefully selected and collected in boxes. Subsequently, they were manually sorted on special mats in the Tenuta di Tignanello drying room or at Tenuta Pèppoli. The grapes, which were dried at the end of December, were then gently pressed to preserve the organoleptic and aromatic characteristics of the wine. The must was placed in the typical caratelli cask with a variable capacity between 50 and 200 liters, where the slow alcoholic fermentation took place, and was then interrupted. The wine was left in the casks for approximately three years and was then blended to finally be bottled.

The production of Vinsanto in Tuscany and in the Chianti Classico area dates back to the Middle Ages – at least. Vinsanto Tenute Marchese Antinori is produced according to tradition and with selected Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes. They were dried in a natural way, a method that requires time and patience, and which gives life to an intense and very pleasant wine. Complex, aromatic and super smooth.

2018 opened in Chianti Classico with regular winter weather – both in terms of temperatures and precipitation. Nevertheless, the vineyards began to sprout a week earlier than usual. Spring, and May in particular, was characterized by frequent downpours with temperatures slightly lower than normal, while June and July were dry and quite warm. Some rain in August and a dry and windy period in the first part of September allowed the Trebbiano grapes to ripen in an ideal way. The harvest took place between 15 and 20 September.

About the Marchesi Antinori
Marchesi Antinori is a family-owned business. Already in Renaissance Florence, the Marchesi Antinori was a very successful wine house, and Allesandro Antinori was one of the richest residents of the city, which was the center of the time’s great thinkers and artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and for writers such as Dante Alighieri, who wrote his Divine Comedy. Marchesi Antinori is to this day a family-owned company, where values such as enormous care, focus on even tiny details and the desire to constantly become more skilled lie beneath the skin. Through 26 generations, the family has shaped Italian winemaking with innovative and sometimes bold decisions, but always with a fundamental respect for tradition.
