Blanc de Blancs is produced 100% from Chardonnay grapes from Louis Roederer’s own vineyards in Côte des Blancs (Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Chouilly). The wine has been champagne-aged for no less than four years. To preserve freshness and finesse, the wine has undergone malolactic fermentation, and the pressure in the bottle is limited to 4 kg instead of the usual 6 kg. The “liqueur de dosage” (dosage liqueur added during disgorgement) is composed of 8-10 of the best cru vineyards and has matured in oak barrels for 4-10 years.
Blanc de Blancs Vintage has a light golden color, and on the nose, it reveals a very intense floral bouquet, as well as nuances of citrus fruits and honey. The palate offers a good crispness, and the aftertaste reveals exciting, almost “buttery” tones of hazelnut, among others.
Louis Roederer’s Blanc de Blancs is exquisite as an aperitif but also pairs wonderfully with seafood, fish, and even goat cheese.
For many years, Louis Roederer has gradually adjusted its production to follow the most sustainable principles, including organic/biodynamic farming. The winery has already achieved DEMETER certification (biodynamic farming) for the vineyards that produce grapes for its finest label, Cristal. Starting with the 2021 vintage, an additional 115 hectares of vineyards have been certified organic, and the remaining vineyards will follow.
For many years, Champagne Louis Roederer has stood at the very top of Champagne production, and today, few houses enjoy a greater reputation than Louis Roederer.
