Louis Jadot – Marc de Bourgogne A la Mascotte 70 cl. 40%

Marc de France

This Marc is made from grapes sourced both from Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, using both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, again from both Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. It is a Marc without a vintage designation and is actually a blend, not only of different grape varieties but also of different vintages, including grapes from vintages aged between 5 and 30 years. The aging process takes place in oak barrels of various ages. In the barrels, a slow evaporation occurs, giving the Marc fine, soft notes of caramel and elegant tannins from the wood. It is perfect as a conclusion to a delightful evening meal and pairs excellently with, for example, apple pie or cheese.

Maison Louis Jadot
Louis Jadot is among the most historic and prestigious wine producers in Burgundy for both white and red wines. Louis Henri Denis Jadot came to Beaune from Belgium in the late 1700s and purchased several vineyards, including the legendary monopole vineyard “Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules,” which to this day remains one of the house’s signature wines. Maison Louis Jadot was established in 1859. The winery owns a total of 150 hectares of vineyards, 70 of which are located in the Côte d’Or. Today, some mistakenly regard Louis Jadot as a négociant buying grapes from local growers, but up to 70% of the wines come from the house’s own vineyards. That Louis Jadot is today one of the most highly regarded wineries in Burgundy is largely due to the exceptional and acclaimed wines created and developed by the legendary and charismatic winemaker Jacques Lardière since 1970. He retired in 2012, passing the torch to Frédéric Barnier, who, with great respect for Lardière’s work, has taken on the legacy and the task. The consistently high quality of the wines has, among other things, resulted in Louis Jadot’s wines being featured on 19 of France’s 27 three-star Michelin restaurants.*
