100% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) red wine, dry, “Pliocene clay-limestone soil with fossil shells and oysters” at approximately 350 meters above sea level. The origin of Vino Nobile dates back to a century-long wine tradition, where it was called “The King of Wines.” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG is only produced in particularly good vintages. It is the flagship wine from the very down-to-earth and friendly wine producer family Natalini. Training system: Double Guyot. Harvest: second to third week of October. Fermentation: Long fermentation on the grape skins with intensive punching down and pumping over in the early phase, long static rest in the final phase, controlled temperature at a maximum of 33 °C. Aging time: 36 months in wooden barrels (40% in Slovenian oak barrels of 25 hl, 60% in small French oak barrels), with a significantly higher proportion of new barrels compared to the smaller Vino Nobile. Bottle aging: at least 8 months. Tasting notes from the vineyard: “Deep red ruby color, intense aroma with fruity and particularly spicy herbal notes, on the palate intense and balanced, persistent on the palate and velvety. The wine is full-bodied and structured. Pairs well with roasted red meat, game, and aged cheeses.” This Riserva is a true long-distance runner! Give it time to age and always enjoy it decanted. The aroma is full-bodied and characterized by notes of ripe fruit and spices. On the palate, it is intense, harmonious, persistent, and elegant with great body and structure.
