About the Producer
The grapes for Hillside Valley are primarily grown in California’s largest wine region, Central Valley, located about 100 km east of San Francisco. Besides being a major wine-producing area, Central Valley is also home to some of the USA’s largest agricultural regions, feeding large parts of the country. The valley is dominated by vast flat plains surrounded by rolling hills, providing optimal conditions for viticulture with excellent drainage and outstanding quality control.
The climate in Central Valley is hot and dry in summer and cool and humid in winter, with fog being a regular seasonal feature. This ensures that the grapes ripen optimally throughout the year, having struggled for nutrients during the early growth months. As a result, the harvested grapes are intensely flavored and characteristic, forming the basis for high-quality wines.
