Highland Park Cask Strength No.4 70 cl. 64,3%

Our fourth release has been matured mainly in first-fill sherry seasoned European oak casks, along with first fill sherry seasoned American oak casks, a small amount of refill casks, ex-bourbon casks and – for the first time – ex-port casks as well. Bottled straight from the cask, without the addition of water to reduce alcohol content, our Cask Strength range combines the traditional craftsmanship of whiskey making with a modern approach to flavor exploration.

Cask Strength Release No. 4 opens with enticing aromas of toasted coconut, fueled by ex-bourbon casks, along with crushed lemons and cedar; there is also a nice hint of Turkish Delight in the aromatic peat smoke, thanks to the influence of the ex-port casks. Exciting flavors of juicy pink grapefruit and fragrant rose water emerge on the palate, expertly balanced by earthier suggestions of toasted oak and sultry peat, while the long finish reveals exotic sun-baked spices and a ribbon of licorice running through the final puff of floral peat smoke .

Nose: Waves of juicy citrus, toasted oak and vanilla are joined by notes of charred heather and fragrant peat smoke.

Palate: Citrus blossom, juicy grapefruit and rosette keep things fresh and floral, while aromatic woody spices gather together with vibrant peat.

Finish: A hint of anise joins warm notes of cloves and sweeter baking spices, while heather and soft smoke linger.
