High West Campfire Whiskey is a blend of American and Scottish whisk(e)y, matured from 4 to 8 years in new charred American oak casks and ex-bourbon casks. It consists of whiskey produced on the following mash bills:
– Straight Rye Whiskeys: 95% rye, 5% malted barley from Midwest Grain Products (MGP) and 80% rye, 20% malted rye from High West Distillery.
– Straight Bourbon Whisky: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley from MGP.
– Blended Peated Malt Scotch Whisky: Undisclosed source due to contractual reasons.
Nose: Flowers, fruit, light and spicy butterscotch, light smoke and smoldering wood from a campfire the morning after. In addition, jasmine, chai tea, leather, tobacco, resin and toast.
Taste: Vanilla, honey, toffee, fruits, blueberries and black cherries, chai spices – nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel, salted caramels, tobacco and soft smoke.
Finish: Long, sweet, spicy and smoky.
High West Campfire Whiskey® is the world’s finest blend of scotch, bourbon and rye whiskey. The smoky Scotch whiskey in this blend offers a lovely smoky note reminiscent of a campfire – hence the name.

High West Distillery was founded in 2006 by David Perkins and his wife, Jane. David – a former biochemist – was inspired to open his own distillery after seeing the parallels between the fermentation and distillation process and his own work in biochemistry during a trip to Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. In 2004, David and his family moved to Park City, Utah to begin their new adventure, where they began distilling in 2007. They chose Park City because of David’s love of the Old West and Utah’s unknown whiskey history.
High West Distillery started out with a small 250 gallon still and a saloon visitor center. What was once a small operation in downtown Park City has now grown into an internationally recognized brand with four unique locations. In 2015, High West opened their distillery in Wanship, Utah, which serves as a whiskey tasting and distillery tour location and today houses a 1600 gallon pot still.
High West’s products have received numerous awards. In 2016, Whiskey Advocate – America’s leading whiskey magazine – named High West “Distillery of the Year.”
