The Hampden Pagos series is the result of partnerships created with Bodegas Lustau and Fundador located in Jerez, Andalusia. These partnerships result in the transport of many Andalusian barrels to Jamaica.
Batch 1 of the Pagos vintage was a blend of rums aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez barrels from Lustau. The second batch had benefited from aging in oloroso barrels from Bodega Fundador.
Here, it is the Bodega Fundador that is once again in the spotlight. The 3rd batch is the result of the assembly of 16 barrels. These contained oloroso aged for up to thirty years. The rum put into ageing displays the marks HLCF (Hampden Light Continental Flavoured) with an ester rate of 374.1 g/hlap at the end of its distillation.
Nose: Rich and complex. The nose reveals notes of clove, toasted walnut, blood orange, apricot stone, and brandied cherry. As it opens up, almonds appear, followed by hints of dates, and a touch of coffee liqueur.
Palate: Bold and lively. Cane sugar, chestnut honey, and tropical flowers notes dominate the palate. Vanilla and cocoa beans follow, adding subtle tannins. The aftertaste is marked by notes of camphor and geranium.
Finish: Long and full. The finish is refreshed by coconut milk, and honeysuckle scents, along with notes of varnish. The aftertaste brings light tobacco notes, lime blossom, peppery rose, coriander, with lingering scents of walnuts and dried grapes.
