Bottled at a high grade after 5 years tropical ageing, it has an ester content of 292.20 g/hlpa. The Angels’ Share is > 34%.
With an ester content of between 200 and 400 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol, this version falls into the LROK (Light Rum Owen Kelly) category of the Hampden distillery’s marks.
From its ageing in sherry casks, it has acquired a patina that recalls, in more than one way, that of certain Scottish single malts.
Complex, deep and very mature, its aromatic and taste palette invites us to discover Hampden in an unusual but oh so interesting autumnal guise. However, fans of this Jamaican rum can rest assured, the tasting is also punctuated by remarkable empyreumatic sequences.
