Glentauchers 31 Years Connoisseurs Choice 1990 G&M 70 cl. 53,8%
Limited Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glentauchers Vintage 1990 is a Scottish single malt whiskey from Gordon & MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range. The whiskey was distilled 22/11 1990, and was bottled at cask strength 14/12 2021. It has therefore spent 31 years in a first fill sherry cask, which has given it an unusually dark, beautiful color, while at the same time it has lots of flavor of old, aged whiskey.
Colour: Mahogany.
Aroma: Fruit with a hint of cinnamon and toffee.
Tasting notes: Cooked fruit with dark chocolate and a little freshly ground pepper, which transitions into delicious notes of oak.
Serving suggestion: Enjoy it plain, possibly with a few drops of water.
An enticing dark 31 year old Glentaucher 1990 bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2021 for their Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range.
This Glentaucher 1990 31 year old came from a large refill sherry puncheon, Cask #14520, which yielded 505 bottles with a very promising natural cask strength of 53.8%, and (of course) has been bottled without color or chill filtration. Glentauchers can be quite ordinary when young, but they really shine with longer aging, so this should be great stuff.
Gordon & MacPhail are to the noble single malt what Lennon & McCartney are to pop music. For more than 100 years, they have insisted on jumping over where the fence is highest. The inherited sense of selecting the absolute best casks from a wide range of distilleries is practiced today as it was 100 years ago. Once the dish is selected, it is transported to G&M’s warehouse in Elgin. Here the cask is looked after and cared for along with thousands of other selected casks until that day in the future, be it five, ten or fifty years down the line, when the whiskey has reached its zenith. Only here are the precious drops bottled.
