Since 1992, Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection has offered a strong selection of rare, independent bottlings of Scotch malt whisky. Wilson & Morgan selects only the best malts, all with an aging time of 8-30 years. After the first long aging period, in many cases they are further aged in sherry, rum, marsala or port wine casks. All casks are personally selected by Italian spirits expert Fabio Rossi (who is behind Rum Nation). Rossi follows only one rule in his selection process:
“Trust your palate and your instinct!”
Although the rule seems very simple, there still seems to be something to the story – bottles from Wilson & Morgan have gone and become highly sought after in single malt circles!
House Range
This series is designed to serve as an introduction to Scotch Whisky. The casks used for the releases come from prestigious Scottish distilleries who, for contractual reasons, prefer to remain anonymous. The series mainly consists of two contrasting styles that are released at regular intervals:
Sherry Cask Malt – Bottled from selected sherry casks from the famous whiskey region of Speyside. This release is the perfect introduction to Speyside whisky: Rich in fruit, honey and soft cigar smoke.
House Malt ”Born on Islay” – A real Islay whisky; powerful and intense with lots of peat smoke, salt and phenol. You either hate it or you love it.
Barrel Selection
This series consists of bottlings from casks handpicked by Fabio Rossi himself. Unlike the House Range, Barrel Selection is marked for the distillery of origin, as well as the year they were aged. Most releases in the series are diluted down to 46% ABV, but you also find releases at 48% and 50%.
Cask Strength Selection
The bottles in this series are tapped directly from the cask without filtering or dilution. With these bottles you don’t get an easy or quick rush. No, with these bottles you get the real thing.
As a result, no two vintages are ever exactly alike, and each release has its own unique character. The only common denominator is incredibly high quality.
Special Release
Exclusive and rare releases, usually in very limited quantities, intended for special customers and often specially designed according to the customer’s wishes.
Decanter Collection
Creme de la creme – the absolute best and most exceptional bottlings come in elegant decanter bottles. The bottlings here consist of very old whiskey from the most prestigious distilleries in Scotland.
