La República Andina is a Bolivian gin packed with local herbs from the mountainous Andean region. The base is traditional and filled with juniper berries, but that is also the only traditional thing about the taste! The ingredient list is long and offers e.g. chirimoya, locate, huacataya, tumbo and k’hoa – not exactly tastes that we here at Dråben can pinpoint by blind tasting, but it gives a wildly spicy and exotic expression! Incredibly lovely with tonic but also fun in an exotic Dry Martini.
La República produces gin in La Paz, Bolivia, so over 3600 meters above sea level. This makes La República the gin in the world that is distilled the highest above sea level. In addition to being a very quirky fun fact, it actually also means that they can distill at a very low pressure, which gives their gin a wildly aromatic and flavorful expression.
