An elegant wine with seductive aromas of white fruits, where apricot and pineapple take center stage, complemented by delicate hints of tropical fruits. The palate offers a fresh and crisp acidity that highlights the wine’s mineral notes, while its full-bodied texture and light creaminess ensure a harmonious and lingering finish. Perfect as a companion to light fish dishes, seafood, or salads.
Quinta da Fonte Souto is the Symington family’s first estate outside the Douro region. You may have heard of Symington before; the family also owns the renowned port wine producer Graham’s. At Quinta da Fonte Souto, the focus is more on classic wines. The estate is located in Portalegre, near the São Mamede mountain range, which provides the vineyards with a cooler climate than one might expect in this typically warm region. The winery manages 43 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Aragonês, Alfrocheiro, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate is also home to numerous chestnut trees, which inspired its name – ‘souto’ refers to a wooded area planted with chestnut trees.
