The cellar and vineyards are located in Staffolo, on the southern side of the Esino valley, on the border with the province of Macerata. The morphology of the territory is the same with the influence of the sea, which penetrates deep into the valley of the Esino river of the same name, thus softening the generally continental climate of these gentle hills. The soils are changing, however, and plots consisting of calcareous marl are added to the classic intermediate mix with a spread of clay. This difference is present within the small company’s land heritage and is one of the reasons why Fattoria’s wines are so different from each other. The Spescia vineyard above Cupramontana, from which the grapes for making Gaiospino are obtained, insists on calcareous marl. However, the vineyards of Coroncino and Cerreta, near San Paolo di Jesi, are composed of predominantly clay soils. The result of this subdivision, combined with the management of the vineyard without synthetic products, results in a variety of very different wines, the release of which is always questioned by the climatic conditions, and each vintage is the faithful mirror of these factors and their territorial expression.
