Montmains is one of the best Premier Cru vineyards in Chablis. Due to its rarity, the rush for the 2020 vintage will be even greater due to its excellent quality. 92 Decanter World Wine Awards points and 93 Wine Enthusiast points for this white wine from Domaine Besson! Cheer !
Montmains is adorned with a rich yellow color with golden reflections. The finely fruity bouquet evokes citrus, ripe peach and a slight hint of herbs, all supported by a fresh, chalky minerality. On the palate, this is an exemplary great Burgundy wine. We perceive a fantastic harmony between a skilfully dosed fruit, a fine acidity, a stimulating minerality and enough extraction and freshness. The finish is creamy, impressively long and typical of the terroir.
The great classic: quiche Lorraine! It also goes very well with rich dishes such as duck, aromatic soft cheeses or lightly spiced curries.
The Besson family has been present in Chablis since the beginning of the 20th century. The appellation of the same name is located in the north of Burgundy, between the towns of Auxerre and Tonnerre. Eugène Besson planted the first vines in 1902. Since then, the Domaine Besson, which bears this name since 1985, also bottles its own bottles.
As with all the wines of the appellation, Montmains Chablis Premier Cru 2020 is a single-varietal Chardonnay. The grapes come from parcels of the Premier Cru Montmains vineyard. After the harvest, they were pressed and the wine fermented at a controlled temperature.
