Dictador XO Aurum 40% is a blend of rum aged 25-35 years. The rum is made from “first press” sugar cane juice and not molasses. After fermentation, the rum is distilled in an antique copper still. The rum is aged in a combination of both bourbon and sherry butts from Jerez and in port casks. Finally, the rooms are blended so that they achieve the perfect Aurum expression, which is characterized by the balance between the smoky, intense flavor and the sweetness.
On the nose there are notes of roasted honey, Colombian coffee, mature oak and vanilla. In the mouth there are notes of spices, allspice, oak, toffee and a bit of vanilla. There is a good balance between the smoky notes and the classic rum notes. There is an enormously long finish, and a light sweetness which complements the barrel notes well. It is a stronger rum compared to Platinum, which has a lighter expression.
