Crimson Casks is a new blended malt from Compass Box. They call it “the pinnacle of our collection,” and those are bold words from a company with such an incredible whisky portfolio as Compass Box. As you may know, a blended malt is a whisky composed of single malts from different distilleries. For this release, only rich, full-bodied whiskies have been selected, primarily aged in American oak oloroso sherry casks. The recipe includes whiskies from Benrinnes and Aberlour, among others. Bottled at 46%, with no added coloring or chill-filtration.
Color: Dark amber.
Aroma: Intense, dark aromas of chocolate, clove, cardamom, and brown sugar.
Taste notes: A powerful whisky filled with notes of plums, chocolate, and figs. Lovely sweetness and a long, satisfying finish.
