Champagne Mandois Blanc de Noirs Brut 2018 75 cl.
Champagne de France
Vintage Champagne on 100% Pinot Noir. Seductively rich and generous.
Blanc de Noirs means that a champagne is made exclusively from blue grapes, in this case 100% Pinot Noir. The Burgundian grape gives the Champagne extra fullness and weight, just as the wine also has a fine note of red berries – petits fruits, as the French say. Mandois Blanc de Noirs is both suitable to accompany canapés, fish, shellfish and light poultry, just as it also does well as a nice decadent cozy wine without food.
The Mandois family has grown wine in Champagne since 1735, and the house is today managed by the 9th generation Claude Mandois. The winery has 35 hectares of vineyards spread across twelve of the best terroirs in Champagne. Virtually all of the house’s wines are made from grapes grown in-house, which is in sharp contrast to the many large, well-known champagne brands, which are almost exclusively made from purchased grapes. Another contrast is that the Mandois family does not spend a penny on advertising – when they do invest, it is solely to increase quality. This also means that when you buy Mandois’ champagnes, you get really good quality for the money. Mandois’ Champagnes are very gastronomy-oriented, and the family consults both chefs and sommeliers when they put together each new vintage. The house’s wines are consistently full-bodied and pronouncedly aromatic, and a small amount of barrel aging is used for some of the top cuvées.
