Caravaglio Malvasia delle Lipari Passito 2021 50 cl.
Sicilian White Sweet Desset Wine
Amber color with golden reflections, bright and crystalline. A treasure chest of aromas: dates, dried apricots, figs, sultanas, notes of vanilla. Elegant freshness for a sweet wine that does not itch. Long finish with hints of flavor.
Caravaglio’s Malvasia delle Lipari passita is a historic wine from the Aeolian Islands, known since the 20th century in Europe. This wine is produced almost exclusively from Malvasia delle Lipari grapes, with 5% black Corinto grapes.
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in dry places where they stay for 2-3 weeks, so that the concentration of sugars and the development of typical aromas occur. The vinification takes place without the addition of yeast. The wine is stored partly in steel and partly in oak for 6 months. It then rests for a further 6 months in the bottle.
The wine is presented in the glass with an amber color with golden reflections, light and crystalline. The nose opens up to a series of dried fruit aromas (dates, figs, sultanas and apricots) with a final note of vanilla. In the mouth, sweetness is not smart at all, thanks to freshness and taste. Long finish.
Malvasia goes very well with dry cakes, but also with cream or jam tarts.
Excellent meditation wine, it should be enjoyed alone or with blue, mature or spicy cheeses.
Malvasia delle Lipari 95%, Corinto Nero 5%
Caravaglio Antonino Agricultural Company is located on the island of Salina in the Aeolian archipelago. It is located in the center of the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of Sicily, in an extraordinary position due to its natural beauty, its active magnetic volcanoes and the socio-ethno-anthropological charm of a culture that keeps alive the traditions linked to fishing and agriculture.
Today, the Caravaglio Agricultural Company has about 20 hectares, spread over many plots, some of which are also found on the other islands of the Aeolian archipelago. The gem in the history of Salina and the Caravaglio winery is the sweet wine Malvasia delle Lipari DOP, with which Antonio Caravaglio has also won several prestigious awards. But the choice to vinify the Malvasia grapes as a dry white wine, a wine to drink throughout the meal but with high quality characteristics, was also very important.
