Gordon & MacPhail Caol Ila 14 years – whiskey from the “Connoisseurs Choice” series
Independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail released this Caol Ila Single Cask Whiskey exclusively for the German market and for their “Connoisseurs Choice” range. Islay Single Malt matured for 14 years in First Fill Sherry Butt with cask number 312070. According to the bottle label, it slumbered there from 2008 to 2023. It was bottled in a natural color and without chill filtration. The alcohol content is a strong 59.6 percent by volume. Only 623 bottles can be purchased.

Nose: Caol Ila Whiskey presents itself on the nose with lemons and oak. Behind are spices and sherry.

Tasting: Caol Ila from Cask 312070 is oily on the tongue. It tastes primarily of vanilla and raspberry. There is peat smoke behind which introduces the spicy finish.

Finish: The finish is long lasting. The single cask whiskey says goodbye with candied ginger and apples. A touch of lemon lasts a long time.

Gordon & MacPhail are to the noble single malt what Lennon & McCartney are to pop music. For more than 100 years, they have insisted on jumping over where the fence is highest. The inherited sense of selecting the absolute best casks from a wide range of distilleries is practiced today as it was 100 years ago. Once the dish is selected, it is transported to G&M’s warehouse in Elgin. Here the cask is looked after and cared for along with thousands of other selected casks until that day in the future, be it five, ten or fifty years down the line, when the whiskey has reached its zenith. Only here are the precious drops bottled.
