About the Product
Caisteal Chamuis 12YO Heavily Peated Blended Malt Whiskey is a heavily smoked Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, which, however, is given great accessibility through a double cask aging, which balances the fat and salty smoke flavor with fruity sherry notes. Thus, this bottle works as a really good introduction to smoked whiskey – although there is still a lot to learn even for the seasoned smoke geek!

Caisteal Chamuis 12YO is released non-chill filtered, without added color and at 46% alcohol.

Tasting notes
The 12 years of aging have softened the sea breeze from this smoky Island whisky, and in turn have added an extremely pleasant note of spicy oak and mild sweetness – no doubt a result of the aging in Sherry casks!

The taste is complex, with lots of phenolic notes and a long, rounded and extremely smoky aftertaste.

Caisteal Chamois Whisky
This classic Island Style Blended Malt Whiskey is named after Caisteal Chamuis (also known as ‘Castle Camus’) – an ancient castle ruin on the Isle of Skye.

The release is a tribute to the traditions and culture of the Hebrides, and is also made as a (successful) experiment in taking the classic Iceland whisky, with its characteristic taste of salt and peat smoke – and giving it a milder and more accessible expression. This makes it, among other things, suitable for newcomers who are interested in peated whisky.
