Blandy’s Madeira – Vintage Bual 1972 75 cl. 21%

Single Harvest Medium Rich Madeira

A magnificent old bual from Blandy’s, aged a staggering 50 years in American oak casks. The wine begins its long aging on the upper floors of Blandy’s Wine Lodge. Over the next 50 years, the wine is gradually moved down through the warehouse to cooler and cooler floors. The winemaker’s most important task is to create the right balance between freshness and fullness precisely by moving the wine at the right time. Wine Spectator has signed off with 96 points and Richard Mayson with 19/20 points.

Colour: Deep mahogany.
Nose: Stone fruit (plum and dried apricot), old brandy infused with vanilla and warm spices.
Tasting notes: Great body and perfectly balanced sweetness (115 g/L) to the quivering acidity. Exotic, spicy, complex and incredibly long in the aftertaste.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy slightly chilled.
