Big Peat Small Batch – Douglas Laing’s 70 cl. 46%

Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Douglas Laing’s Big Peat is a blend of single malts sourced exclusively from the legendary island of Islay containing small portions of the spirits of Ardberg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and, surprisingly, Port Ellen. This is possible because Douglas Laing owns one of the largest stocks of this legendary distillery which ceased operations back in 1983.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

An unusual detail that makes this product incredible is that no “vatted malt” label tends to indicate selected malts. This is a Whisky that is not cold filtered, not coloured and made from what are called Small Batch, or small batches of casks carefully selected to ensure quality and rarity. A real reference point for the “Vatted” of Islay, Big Peat is an exceptional peat, in which the softness of vanilla and the timbre of the peat mix and coexist beautifully giving us a bottle not to be missed.

TASTING NOTES:

-Colour: It has a golden yellow colour.

-Aroma: The nose stands out for its freshness thanks to salty notes, extremely clean and elegant. Hints of vanilla and anise give way to a characteristic trace of wet earth.

-Taste: In the mouth it is explosive, the peat prevails with hints of ash, sweet tar, sea water and an engaging smokiness. The finish is of a poignant length, characterised by a return of the same vaguely salty aroma enhanced by notes of spicy liquorice. Unforgettable.

HOW TO SERVE IT:

Great served neat with an ice cube or with a splash of pure water served with a good cigar and a piece of extra dark chocolate.
