Anker Chokolade was founded by Martin Nørregaard and Mikkel Anker in 2015.
Anker Chokolade is a fusion of a Michelin chef and chocolatier – Mikkel Anker – and a food lover passionate about running a business – Martin Nørregaard. Our different backgrounds bring diverse perspectives on how to create a top-quality product.

Mikkel’s background in gourmet kitchens and Michelin restaurants has given us a unique approach to “acceptable” flavors in chocolate. We don’t feel restricted by “the way it’s always been done” but allow ourselves to think creatively and challenge the usual flavors found in chocolate. We work hard to develop the taste in each piece of chocolate, so it both tastes and looks inviting – as it’s well known, you eat with your eyes too.

Our story began in December 2015 when we opened our first store in Vesterbro. After renovating an old basement during the summer, our chocolate workshop was finally ready to welcome guests on December 17, 2015. Guests could visit the store and watch chocolate production firsthand. Initially, we were open mainly in the evenings and weekends, as Anker Chokolade was a side business alongside our full-time jobs and evening studies. But as demand grew, a year later, it was time to go all-in. So, Mikkel went full-time to keep up, and six months later, Martin did the same. We transitioned from full-time jobs and evening studies to being 100% focused on Anker Chokolade.

CONCEPT At Anker Chokolade, we strive to challenge your taste buds with our unique selection of chocolates. Our range varies by season, meaning we work with two collections – one Summer Collection and one Winter Collection. We do this because we believe raw ingredients are at their best when used in season. Therefore, we replace 2/3 of our assortment every six months, constantly striving for excellence.

Our core idea is to contribute to the traditional chocolate market by introducing new, exciting flavor combinations, thereby pushing the boundaries of which ingredients can be paired with chocolate.

WE LOVE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Since we believe chocolate is a craft, we’ve chosen not to use large machines that instantly produce vast quantities of chocolate. We believe that love should be part of the chocolate-making process, which is why all our products are handmade. This includes everything from the decoration – often hand-painted with a brush – to the molding and filling of the chocolates. Everything is crafted by hand.

You can see this craftsmanship in our stores, where production takes place in both locations. If you’re interested in watching our production process, you’re always welcome to drop by during the day, as production usually takes place then. The fact that production happens in-store also makes our shops very authentic and always filled with the fresh scent of chocolate – you’ll never doubt that you’re in a chocolate shop.
