Just when you thought the world’s best amaretto couldn’t get any better, we got our hands on Adriatico’s limited edition collaboration with Planteray. It still features natural ingredients: hand-harvested almonds from Puglia (roasted), a pinch of sea salt, and half as much sugar as a typical amaretto. But now things get exciting! The liqueur has been aged for 8 months in an oak cask that previously held Fiji rum from Planteray! Only 2,706 bottles have been produced to supply the whole world, mind you.
Color: Mahogany.
Nose: An intensely aromatic profile, naturally dominated by roasted almonds, but also showcasing notes of other nuts: hazelnut, coconut, and undertones of vanilla, coffee, and citrus.
Flavor Notes: Round and elegant, beautifully balanced with notes of chocolate, almonds, and nougat, and – if you look for it – dried bananas, cherries, and ginger.
Serving Suggestion: This is the ultimate luxury amaretto. Enjoy it neat over ice after a fine meal or in a killer Amaretto Sour.
